TIME is inviting readers to cast their votes “for the person you think most influenced the news this year, for better or worse.” Time’s editors make the final decision in the annual media event.

2014 Voting closes at 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 6, and the combined winner of their reader polls will be announced on Dec. 8. TIME’s Person of the Year will be announced Dec. 10.
